Meet Our Shepherd

Rev. Dr. Ronnie B. Tucker, Sr., is a native of Monticello, Arkansas, the son of Mrs. Bertha T. Hewing and the oldest of four siblings. A product of his hometown public schools, Dr. Tucker has continually pursued educational opportunities by earning a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arkansas, Monticello, an M.A., in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, a Ph.D., in Public Administration from Mississippi State University, Starkville, and a Th.D., in Theology from New World Bible Institute, Hayti, Missouri.

 

His experiences prepared him well for teaching and counseling positions held in universities and high schools of Arkansas and Mississippi. He is currently an Associate Professor at Shippensburg University, teaching public administration and government-related subjects. He is the author of numerous publications and presentations related to Affirmative Action and governmental issues.

     

Benefiting from a caring Christian family environment, Dr. Tucker was called into ministry, and on February 15, 1976, was licensed by Morning Star Baptist Church, Monticello, Arkansas. His ordination was authorized by Dr. T. S. Skipper on January 16, 1977 at Morning Star.

   

His pastoral experience includes Mission Point Missionary Baptist Church, Fort Smith, Arkansas from 1978 through 1988; Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, Menifee, Arkansas from 1989 through mid-1997; and Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Starkville, Mississippi from 1998 through August 2000.

     

Dr. Tucker brought considerable skills and blessings to Pennsylvania in August 2000 when he accepted a teaching position at Shippensburg University. These teaching skills have not only benefited university students, but have been extended to area ministries including his home church, Zion Baptist, Hagerstown, Maryland, St. Paul AME Church, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, local and state associations, and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., Congress of Christian Education.  

     

Dr. Tucker is a member of the Chambersburg Community Improvement Association, the American Society of Public Administration, the Southern Political Science Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He also officiates PIAA basketball.   

     

Rev. Dr. Tucker is married to Sister Lenore Tucker.  They have two adult children, Kristie Tucker and Ronnie B. Tucker, II. Dr. and Mrs. Tucker currently reside in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
